SEEKING INSPIRATION AT MILAN DESIGN WEEK

Exotic countries, bustling cities, unknown gems… Everything I need to spark my inspiration. This time on the map? Milan! At the Salone del Mobile or Milan Design week I explored natural stones, interesting fabrics, XXL plants and so much more. Travel with me and get inspired.

STONEWARE

When it comes to tiles, too often we choose classics such as granite or terrazzo for our interior. The Design Week was a great reminder that you can take many other paths. In addition to natural tones, there are also other stylish alternatives that are reminiscent of abstract art. Especially the more extreme XXL tiles with graphic and geometric motifs in contrasting colours caught the eye at the fair. They were presented not only as floors, but also as wall tiles and tabletops. Very inspiring!

ROUGH VS SOFT

Unprocessed wood, linen fabrics, organic shapes and natural tones brought visitors of the Design Week back to basics. While many people initially prefer to stay away from raw and unfinished, the fair showed just how beautiful it can be. The raw style also fits surprisingly well with soft fabrics such as velour or with shiny metals. This original combination encourages me to experiment with contrasting, or rather complementary, styles myself.

THE FAR EAST AT HOME

Last but not least, I also saw coming back Eastern influences: low lounges, contrasts of gold and black and ceramics with drawings of blossoms, Japanese trees and birds. Vases were even painted on the spot! Exotic pieces do not have to be very present, with a few eye-catchers you already add an edge to your interior.
